Vata

Vata, being air and space, is cold and dry. A Vata type should place an emphasis on warm, moist foods (like soups, oatmeal and steamed vegetables) and calming, grounding activities. When Vata is imbalanced and high, a person may exhibit ailments such as dry skin issues, constipation, feeling cold, anxiety and insomnia, joint stiffness and pain, weight loss and a general lack of groundedness. Cold, raw and dry foods, like popcorn, raw fruits and leafy vegetables, as well as bitter, drying herbs, will only add more air to this constitution and aggravate these issues. The following blends employ herbs that are warming and emollient (add moisture and viscosity) to the body, and address some of Vatas most common ailments.
