Kapha

Kapha represents earth, and is therefore described as cold, heavy and oily. An imbalance of this dosha is often expressed by the body through weight gain and fluid retention, slow digestion, oily skin issues such as cystic acne and blackheads, congestion, particularly of the lungs, and depression or lethargy. The Kapha type should emphasize a warm, dry and light diet, enjoying lots of warming spices, bitter greens dried fruits and lean proteins. A diet heavy in dairy, oily nuts or fried foods, baked goods and breads will only weigh Kapha down and aggravate these issues. The herbs employed in the following Kapha blends are warming, uplifting and tend to include diuretic energies that balance this dosha and address some of its' most common issues.
